May, June, and July!
These are summer months. The time where most of us in the Northern Hemisphere go on holidays and follow the sun. Finally after all these cold and wet months. And although I'm definitely a Autumn girl, nothing screams "summer" to me as real fresh ITALIAN GELATO.
I went for a Trio this round. Not only because I was behind schedule due to our holiday and sick toddler, but also because the theme was screaming for three colors. three iconic Italian Gelato flavours. It made so much more sense than two.
It's NOT a Pastel Color
The pigments in your paints are not pastel colors. Even if they might look that way in the pan. There is no Titanium white added. Let me explain.
All these pigments come from a tiny independent pigment shop in Venice, Italy called "Arcobaleno Venezia". They sell the finest and most beautiful pigments I've ever seen. Pigments so finely grind, it looks like dust. (And for the fans of Fountain pens, they sell handmade fountain pens) Because these pigment are so fine, the color it a bit more opaque then other pigments made from the same substance.
I've requested their pigment numbers per pigment, which I'll list below. But it seems they added a little bit of Buff Titanium into their mix. Making them opaque, but don't not pastel like.
Vaniglia - Italian for "Vanilla"
A classic flavour meets a classic pigment. Yellow Ochre. PY43. Foraged just outside of Venice. A gorgeous golden color. Semi opaque due to the added natural Buff Titanium.
Pistacchio -
Another classic flavour that meets a classic pigment. Green Earth PG23 is also wildly foraged in Italy. Green Earth comes in many different shades, from soft green to umber. Many printmakers struggle with PG23. It's sucks up all the binder, it turns into a globby texture and it's SUPER STREAKY when applied. It's also a pain in the butt for painters because it's very slow in activating, and it super sheer. But not this one. I finally found a PG23 that is silky smooth, a little more opaque and NOT streaky.
Fragola - Italian for Strawberry
This one is a little pigment mix, Rosso Venezia (Red from Venice, another Ochre) + Magenta (Quin Magenta), and Buff Titanium. Rosso Venezia is also foraged in Italy is it give the iconic rooftops their beautiful red shade. I added a little Magenta to the mix to it resembles strawberry gelato better. I think this one is my favourite from the trio.
Enjoy
I really hope you'll love the trio along with the stickers. The stickers are painted on cold pressed Arches paper with these three colours. After I've added some stickers in the past, I got some lovely feedback from members that they LOVE stickers. So I thought it would be fun to add the three ice cream cones for you.
Next time, we'll have some cute artsupplies again. So I hope everyone will love their little goodies.
