BirdMember Box: March - April 2024

You've received your BirdMemberPaints for March and April 2024. What do you have this time?

Beyond - Pigments from out of space

This is "Beyond"
A granulating and separating paint mix. This mix consist of the Meteorite brown, natural English Ochre for warmth, and a little Cerulean Blue for extra separation.

The meteorites are found near the Moroccan town of Zagora. These Chondrites belong to the so-called stone meteorites and are about 4.5 billion years old.

The pigment on it's own is... not so pretty. It remind me a bit of a simple brown ochre. Dull and chalky. But when mixed with other more heavier pigments, the meteorite particles started to float on top, creating a beautiful granulation.

Example from a Chondrites stone.

Meteorite brown as a single pigment

"Beyond" - This mix consist of the Meteorite brown, natural English Ochre for warmth, and a little Cerulean Blue for extra separation.

Nebula - an exclusive mix with the extinct pigment PB33 Manganese Blue.

A couple of years ago I bought a whole bunch of Vintage pigments from the 60s and 70s. They were hiding away in someones basement until one of his children were clearing out his house. In perfect condition! One of those pigments was a bottle of PB33 Manganese Blue. A very rare pigment and extinct pigment.

I've made single pigment halfpans for you in 2022. But I have some leftover and It worked perfectly for this mix.

Together with Quin. Magenta it results in amazing separation.

What else is in this box

- A sticker of the theme

- An HB Pencil. One of my favourite pencils I like to use while painting. Especially on textured cold pressed paper.

- A goodnight tea. Relax, paint, and fall asleep with dreams about shooting stars.

Leftovers

I have some leftover halfpans. So if you want to gift one to your friends, just send me a DM or email. I also have some leftovers from 2023. I think I'll add them to the shop this summer to create some extra space.

Hope you enjoy them, and as always, please tag me in your creations.

Love,

Issy
